Raúl is a writer, a political activist, journalist and analyst, specializing on social movements in Latin America, author of books such as Dispersing Powers: Social Movements as Anti-State Forces (2010) and The New Brazil - Regional Imperialism and the New Democracy, which were translated into English language. In his speech he will elaborate about autonomous urban communities and on the way a new world is created in old cities. In order to survive, the suppressed need to build ties and establish links which explain material and symbolic resistance. Social change is an everyday practice, essential in demarcated autonomous spaces, as autonomy sets the perimeter for counter hegemonic practices.
